  • Reciting from memory is a bardic skill, but those “other people” were his dedicated assistants.

Well, possibly. We don’t know when Homer went blind, or if he was ever actually blind.

All we really know is that the two biographies written about him were written at least 400 years after his death. Both are highly questionable, but both still say that Homer was literate, or at least well educated, before losing his sight.

All we actually know is that Homer wrote the Iliad (or parts of it) and the Odyssey.

  • That’s not how it works. Making money today is the only thing these ghouls care about, ruining a company or brand is just dandy because they won’t be holding the bag when it bursts. They’ll have passed it to someone else. Someone else who will then work to gut the company even more before selling it to someone who will gut it and close it down.

And nothing of real value will have been made, but lots of rich asshats will be slightly richer.

  • The Mississippi River sees constant river boat traffic.

Those smaller, feeder rivers often aren’t big enough to support a barge.

The Jones act mostly applies to ocean shipping, in fact, I don’t think the Jones act even applies to river traffic.

To be fair, the Jones act consistently fucks over Puerto Rico, and should probably be scrapped or amended, it just doesn’t stop river traffic on rivers that can’t actually support said traffic.

  • It goes back to the idea of the signal fire.

The symbolism of the burning cross was specifically used a call to arms/declaration of war for the Scottish clans. Sort of a command for all clan members to make their way to the area and defend it.

It was used extensively in the 1715 Jacobite rising and in Canada among Scottish settlers during the war of 1812.

It was made a symbol of the Klan by a racist fan fiction author in 1905. (note that this is after the first Klan was disbanded, and before the second formed)

The racist fan fiction author knew about the Scottish tradition, and assumed that the burning cross would call all the white people together to come kill the black people.

    And now you know.
