  • In fairness to multicolor printing in general, he couldn’t have picked a worse multicolor model for generating waste. You want to optimize for as few color changes as possible. Just the other day I printed some pokeballs in full color and it was (iirc) around a 0.4:1 waste:print ratio - which is still a fair bit of waste, but nothing like 2.5, thanks to the fact that the colors are layered.

Gradients are the absolute worst thing for multicolor printing, this printer was probably doing 3-6 color switches per layer

  • The Bambu slicer does offer such a thing, the results vary depending on the colors in question though, if the color it’s purging is black, and most of the print is white, then the black that gets flushed into the infill is going to be pretty visible under the white outer walls. This can be mitigated by thicker walls, and ofc its less of an issue when dealing with colors of different, but similar, shades

I’ve found that the best way to reduce multicolor waste is to try and setup your model in the first place so that it uses the smallest number of color changes possible, but ofc whether or not you have much control over that will depend largely on the model in question

  • I agree that it’d be nice to have options for these things, but personally I like most of the features you want gone 🤷🏼‍♂️ for me - MK isnt for competitive racing, it’s for chaotic fun - the handicap mechanics are great because it means you can play with anyone and still have a fun time. The person in last dropping a blue shell or bullet bill only spoils the fun if you’re treating it like an esport, otherwise it just keeps things interesting

And as the best MK player in my circle, I can also attest that skill 110% matters in MK. sure you may get the occasional game where you just get stupid unlucky and your noob friend gets stupid lucky so they win, but 9/10 the best players still finish first in my experience

  • I’m not sure “evolution” is on the table for humanity any longer. For one thing, evolutionary pressures don’t really exist for humanity, outside of the most undeveloped areas.

Not making it to “breeding age” (feels weird to say that in the context of humans) doesn’t really have anything to do with fitness any longer, more just luck.

Add in the fact that we basically already have the ability to manipulate human genes - and I think it’s far more likely that we’ll just start tinkering with our genetic code deliberately, as opposed to what we think of as evolution
