beezkneez@beehaw.orgto Chat@beehaw.org•Recommendations for beginner winter running clothes?English2·2 years agoI’ve liked my thermal tights from 2XU. Had them since 2014, and used in negative Cs (maybe down to -5C?). Feels very chilly when you first go out, but then gets quite comfortable once you get running.
I can’t run outside myself until Spring now myself - suffering from runner’s knee now and slowly recovering, but it can still start hurting in the middle of a run. Having to stop to walk back in the middle of a run is not ideal when it’s cold outside and you are dressed for running and not walking.
I’m sick - possibly covid. Been knocked out for about six days already, so I hope I’ll be well enough to go on a planned trip on Friday.
This looks cool, didn’t know it was still going strong. Last time I played Freelancer (vanilla) was during my military duty almost 15 years ago, when stuck on night duty. Brought it in and played with some of the other soldiers. It was a fun time, but we didn’t get too much into it then unfortunately.
I feel you. I’ve been spending a long time doing the same. I wanted to also clean up my digital footprint by requesting account deletion and data erasure (thanks to GDPR that is actually possible), however some companies make it extremely difficult to do this.
beezkneez@beehaw.orgto Chat@beehaw.org•How did you find a healthy balance between staying informed and not despairing about the world?English3·2 years agoI tried something similarily, although I stopped when there was some filtering rules I couldn’t figure out. This thread has inspired me to take that up again.
Main advantages of this I would say:
- No endless scrolling as you say
- No cheap tricks (blinking red capital letters screaming BREAKING NEWS at you)
- No falling for the headline switcheroo - you see each article once. You might miss some updates in an article, but they are usually minor and when something big happens it tends to generate many articles anyway. If it’s really important, you will see it.
- Certain RSS clients (like Fluent Reader) allow you to view articles in app, which allows you to skip visiting the newsite altogether. Doesn’t work with paywalls, though.
Yeah, you kinda need to know this before opening it. I was first introduced to vim in a uni course, so it was written out in the assignment text. But with emacs I had to throw the comouter away.
