Any collection of information derived from sufficiently disparate human sources is going to have a worldview. Change my mind.

It’s why some of these AI tools are being accused of being “racist” among other laughable anthropomorphic descriptions. (Data can not be racist. It can represent racist points of view, as a training input, but it can not in itself be racist, mainly becuase its not ya know… sapient). Thr creators however absolutely can be racist. I am not saying theybsre, nor do I suspect it. These are datasets with worldviews that are not necessarily always appropriate for the types of functions they are intended to be used for, that’s all.

  • not a great article at all for those of us who have no preexisting idea what a polychrome wall actually is.

    from wiki:

Polychrome is the “practice of decorating architectural elements, sculpture, etc., in a variety of colors.”[1] The term is used to refer to certain styles of architecture, pottery or sculpture in multiple colors.

When looking at artworks and architecture from antiquity and the middle ages, people tend to believe that they were monochrome. In reality, the pre-Renaissance past was full of colour, and all the Greco-Roman sculptures and Gothic cathedrals, that are now white, beige or grey, were initially painted in bright colours. As André Malraux stated, “Athens was never white but her statues, bereft of color, have conditioned the artistic sensibilities of Europe… the whole past has reached us colorless.”[2] Polychrome was and is a practice not limited only to the Western world. Non-Western artworks, like Chinese temples, Oceanian Uli figures, or Maya ceramic vases, were also decorated with colours.

  • So is it

Again, the flavor was close to the organic article but not quite there, leaving me with an uncanny-valley feeling. Yet, when dabbed with the plant-based butter next to it on the plate, this faux fish was delicious overall.

    or is it

Synthetic fish isn’t quite there yet—and may not be worth the effort

Because the article tells me both. Seems the effort is worth while when you consider the fact that salmon aren’t faring well as a species currently, due to overfishing. As a result, species which rely on salmon, such as orca whales, are also measurably suffering. So if it’s “overall delicious” and can save some damn whales, how is that “not worth the effort” ?
