41·5 months agoExactly. You get it.
Limiting the data being thrown out the window is doable. You’ll see folks trying to “De-Google” which is understandable. But you’re effectively changing the entire way you use the internet. So if that’s something you’re comfortable with, there’s that.

You’re still giving hoards of data away.
Until you realize how this is possible, you and me cannot have this conversation.

42·5 months agoYou’re willingly giving your data away as soon as you buy a smartphone. Just using FF and UBO isn’t doing anything to help that.
I’m baffled as to how you seem to believe these two things somehow are making your personal data untouchable. There is no reality that exists where you aren’t giving up an enormous amount of personal data.
Those things only help make the web less annoying.

2·6 months agoIt’s worse that Android 12 and that’s sayin a lot. It feels like beta software that was shoved out the door. You can tell the devs are iOS users.
There are so many things that need refining in the UI department that it’s actually amazing they released it. I do not understand what they thought they had accomplished with this update.
It’s kind of embarrassing, tbh.
Apps are easy. The UI you interact with a thousand times a day isn’t some fuckin nothin burger.

I’m just baffled how anyone uses a stock launcher on ANY version of Android, from ANY era, on ANY device.
I have not used a stock launcher of any Samsung phone ever in over 15 yrs because they are all shit. And if it’s not total shit, nxt yrs OS update will undoubtedly MAKE IT SHIT.
Rinse and repeat every year. God I feel sorry for you people. Having to have your settings erased and retrain your muscle memory every OS update. That isn’t “fun”. It isn’t “fresh”. It’s annoying AF.
TouchWiz going to ONEUI didn’t magically make me fall in love with it. Stock launchers are garbage, always have been. Especially with each subsequent update.

2·6 months agoDon’t sleep on Google Services.
If you’re not an iPhone user, those “services” are what keeps Google from killing Android entirely. Waaaayyyy too much data collection to just brush your shoulders off over.

5·6 months agoIt’s 2025. Mobile operating systems have basically peaked at this point. These yearly OS updates offer nothing but change for the sake of change with very little in the way of actual use for the overwhelming majority of people.
I’m tired of having to re-train my muscle memory every year just because Android releases have become “events” for marketing instead of offering features that useful.
NEW ANDROID OS! ALL YOUR SETTINGS ARE CHANGED, HAVE FUN!!

19·6 months agoOf all the companies in all the world, Google is the last company I’d want working on a feature like this, for hella obvious reasons. If it isn’t immediately adopted, super-hyped, and constantly worshipped, they will either let it stagnant in development hell or outright kill it in the end.

1·7 months agoSure, banking and work related apps. Set those for auto-update.
The rest, I’d manually do it monthly.

Well there goes my weekend. Should inform my extended family.
