Cleared DRS last week for the first time. I had kind of avoided it because I’d heard mixed things, and bozja / field op stuff never really caught my interest (I had ranked up to 22 but kind of didn’t enjoy the format). The past couple weeks I got back into it and something clicked and I realized it’s exactly the sort of content I’ve been wanting.

Lost actions / essences, while still kind of annoying to farm (I ended up just buying some from MB), give you flexibility in builds that no other content does. Also the duel system that confused the hell out of me before has given me a challenge to look forward to while I’m farming in Zadnor. I think it helps that the instances aren’t too crowded anymore so it’s easier to get into duels to practice.

So when I joined a couple of field op discords and noticed there are multiple DRS runs per week, I decided what the hell, I always wanted the mount. I spent a few hours reading guides & got my holster prepped, and joined a run. The first run was a blast, but ultimately we wiped on Queen’s Guard and didn’t re-instance that night. The second run I joined was 48/48 with a lot of vets and we tore through the bosses, but it was still definitely a challenge (my goal was to not die too terribly and embarrass myself), and I felt like I could contribute even being a newbie.

I’ve done a lot of raiding in this game, but DRS was some of the most fun I remember having in grouped content. Definitely recommend it if you think it might tickle your fancy.

Hoping that it gets included soon as the folks developing the Android TV client have said they don’t want to support intro skipping until it’s part of Jellyfin core. Until then the only option is auto skipping and I don’t really want to do that.

I use talking points like these a fair amount with Republicans. Try to get them to think back to when they were leaders in environmental policy. Get back to their roots of environmental stewardship. It seems to have moved the needle slightly.

Want to drop some info here, not related to your question since it’s still out of your price range, but just for others who might be browsing, since I see HM chairs come up a lot in this thread and the other one.

A lot of these fancy ergo chairs work similar to other furniture and use a network of dealers. This is important, because dealers often sell for way less than MSRP, especially when they’re buying for clients making big offers for office buildings buildouts. Some dealers can get you a great price by basically adding your chair to a big order for another client. I wanted a HM Embody and talked to 3 dealers in my area. One of them was able to get me the chair for about $1000, and this was also customized with the fabric that I wanted. Really shows the huge markup that MSRP is on this kind of item. Dealers are sometimes also willing to give you a loaner so you can try the chair at home before you buy.

Autonomous has really good marketing and sells a really cheap chair that they probably buy for $80 at an insane markup. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not too terrible. I’ve sat in one before, and it’s certainly better than those stupid “gamer” chairs, but please understand what you are buying.

Personally if I were you, I would look at buying a used Steelcase Leap. I bought one in leather in 2015 for $430 including shipping off eBay. Bought another one from a local dealer that had a ton from an office closeout and paid like $300. I’m looking on eBay right now and seeing pretty similar prices for used and refurbs.

VPN drains my phone battery like crazy, plus eventually I’d like to be able to share my services with some less technical people, and want to keep the barrier to entry low for them, so I’ve been looking at what I’d want in order to be comfortable exposing services publicly.

Services are running on Truenas Scale (k3s).

What I’ve been thinking is:

1. Isolate services’ network access to each other and to my local network.
2. Reverse proxy in front of all services (probably Caddy)
3. Coraza as a WAF
4. Crowdsec Caddy module
5. Some sort of auth layer in the proxy, like oauth2-proxy (kind of tricky because not every service would work well with this, especially without client support). Probably would start with a 3rd party identity provider rather than rolling my own, especially since 3rd party will probably do a lot more monitoring around logins, patterns, etc.

Thinking of hosting the reverse proxy piece on a VPS. Probably not completely necessary because I don’t think hiding my home IP really buys me much security, but Caddy might be easier to configure on the VPS compared to Truenas (though I guess I could run it in a VM on Truenas).

Each app could run a wireguard sidecar to connect it to the VPS.

Curious what others think about this setup, or if the recommendation is still to keep things behind a VPN.

The term “public record” usually refers to records that a government is required to maintain and make accessible to the public. In most states, I believe SMS messages sent by government employees while conducting official business are considered in-scope (though there may be other laws that make certain messages private).

As far as whether your SMS messages can be accessed by law enforcement without a warrant, it gets more complicated.

Older than 180 days? Fair game. A court or government agency can subpoena your provider without any requirement to notify you, per the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986.

Newer than 180 days? A warrant is required, but there are exceptions. For example, administrative subpoenas are allowed in cases of national security.

Records of incoming/outgoing calls require only a subpoena, same with cell tower geolocation data and IP addresses. However, wiretapping of actual calls requires a warrant.

The reality of how and when the government accesses your data in the real world is probably different than the laws as written, so of course take everything with a grain of salt. The best solution with text messages is at least E2E encryption so that the provider cannot store them. (Accessing messages stored on your device itself does require a warrant).

You could do it, especially if you’re running Truenas Scale since that’s Linux. On Core you could do it inside a VM (I have Jellyfin set up inside an Ubuntu VM with persistent samba mounts to access my media).

On Scale the recommended way would probably be through helm charts, though config might look a bit different than the Docker Compose files here. There are charts for I think all the services mentioned: https://truecharts.org/charts/description_list

Personally I’m planning on waiting just a little bit longer for Scale to become more stable and then I’m going to migrate, rather than trying to set up all these services in a VM on my Core machine today.

Nice, I ended up just taping a fan on underneath using HVAC tape applied directly to the heatsink.

The plastic screw thing that holds the heatsink on can become brittle and break after some years. It might be worth picking up some small nylon bolts online before that happens.

Edit: or I guess zip ties would work if it comes to that…
