There was no real alternative back when I started using Unity.
Was that around 2010 targeting mainly the then much smaller Android/iOS space?
2013 I think. And yes, I was looking to target Android with a 3D game.
There has been one for years now though. Look, you can justify your decisions to yourself as you want, but you still have to buy the Unity CEO a new yacht.
I don’t have to buy shit. My games aren’t popular enough to meet the threshold. But my point is I started before before Godot was released. I accumulated a collection of tools and assets that can’t simply replace. And blaming the people who got screwed by a policy that wasn’t in the agreement they accepted isn’t helping anyone.
Blaming? I didn’t blame anyone. I just posted a meme.
I was fine with the meme. It’s perfectly valid. I was just reacting to the “you can justify your decisions to yourself” part which came across to me as a bit overly-judgmental.
Seemed a bit obvious it was a joke to me
I might’ve overreacted a bit. I sometimes get that way when I’m sleep deprived and anxious about unrelated things.
